In this guide, we will explain the process of assigning phone numbers to your Microsoft Teams users.
- Log in to the Teams Admin Center: Visit the Microsoft Teams Admin page at admin.teams.microsoft.com. Enter your credentials to log in.
- Navigate to User Management:
- Click on the Users tab.
- Select Manage Users.
- Use the search bar to find the user or scroll through the list.
- Select the User:
- Click on the user’s name, which is a hyperlink, to access their profile.

- Edit User Details:
- On the user's profile, click the Edit button.
- Assign a Phone Number:
- Scroll to the Assign phone number section.
- Enter the new phone number in the designated field.
- Fill out the required Emergency Address information.
- Click Apply to save the changes.
- Confirmation: After applying, verify that the phone number has been assigned by viewing the updated information on the user’s profile.

⚠️Please note that when activating an existing phone number, Microsoft temporarily disconnects these numbers, necessitating a re-sync with the Microsoft Tenant. This configuration update typically involves an approximate downtime of 20 minutes as the phone numbers are synchronized. After the numbers have been restored in the Teams environment, you can reassign them to your users or resource accounts.
